In the village of Nakola, Uganda, our team embarked on a mission to provide clean water by drilling a borehole. Little did we know that our encounter with a young boy named Cyrus would forever change our perspective on the power of compassion and the impact of our work. Cyrus, a young boy from Nakola, was in a dire state of health when we first met him during our hygiene and sanitation class. Recognizing the urgency of his condition, we immediately took him to the hospital, where we discovered that he was suffering from malaria, typhoid, sickle cell disease, and a significant growth problem in his leg and hip. Through the support of our generous donors, we were able to provide him with the necessary medical treatment and enroll him in a sickle cell plan for ongoing care. This essay will explore the challenges Cyrus faced, the progress he has made, and the gratitude we feel towards our supporters.
